Meet the founder - James

A serene landscape with mountains, a lake, and a clear blue sky reflecting nature's tranquility.

Welcome to Kindling Support

I'm James, the founder of Kindling Support. My journey into this sector has been shaped by seeing the support system from two very different angles: as a passionate advocate for a loved one, and as someone who navigated the system myself.

This dual perspective began with my lived experience in the DCJ system as a young person, as well as my own personal journey through mental health and AOD recovery. That experience gave me a unique sense of empathy and firsthand knowledge of the real challenges individuals face. This understanding was only deepened when I supported a loved one, where I witnessed just how much courage it takes to find a path forward in a system that often lacks genuine care.

Why I Started Kindling Support

My time working in the sector gave me a deep appreciation for the complexities of these systems, but it also inspired me to create something different. I wanted to build a more personalised, grassroots service where I could form genuine, long-term connections and tailor my support entirely around each individual's unique needs and strengths.

I founded Kindling Support in Dubbo to provide more than just a service. My goal is to be a trusted partner who offers genuine empathy, reliable support, and a steadfast commitment to helping you live a fulfilling life. My mission is to bridge the gap between people and the resources they need, ensuring everyone is met with the compassion and respect they deserve.

Professional Expertise & Personal Passion

To ensure I provide the highest standard of care alongside my lived experience, I hold specific Certificate IV qualifications in Youth Work, Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), and Mental Health Peer Work. I use this knowledge to offer a reliable, safe, and genuinely empowering service.

Whether we are working together on in-home support, mentoring, or community access, my approach is highly personalised. I work alongside you to understand your needs, celebrate your strengths, and provide the practical tools you need to succeed.

Serving communities throughout the Orana and Central West regions, from Dubbo and its surroundings to Orange, Bathurst, and everywhere in between.
